Nesting, sparrows and memory

As i  go about my humdrum tasks i can actually hear real twitters. Oh yes! these aren't the  ones famous people  or  politician's are  using. These are the  chirps we have been missing for sometime.

The sparrow's chirps. It seems so long ago that they were busy in our backyards. Tiny wings quivering the sparrows would gobble every morsel we threw at them. Recently, a scientist friend  informed me that one of the causes for their dwindling in our cities is because of the lack of food for the young.

The young in sparrows eat small , juicy insects. the likes of which are almost extinct because of the chemicals in the soil. In chennai i saw a handful in a very special building ,next to marina beach.
But Patna has seen only squalor till recently. This spring i have welcomed a few in my narrow  balcony.

We crossed fingers on hearing the friendly chirps. I am afraid to take pictures in case it scares them away. Maybe by tomorrow i will be able to post them. The whisper of a promise lingers in my heart..........

Will they be nesting in my backyard once more?
